FFF Touring Follies - Lamoni, Iowa

We were doing a college show in Lamoni, Iowa last summer and were staying at a hotel next door to a Kum & Go. That's not the funny part.

We stopped for some snacks and while paying for them, we noticed this print-out on the counter:

We asked the clerk what happened. Turns out, this guy came in late one night, grabbed a hot dog off the rollers, took a bite, placed it back on the rollers, and walked out without paying for it. We asked if there was anything we could do. "Well," she said, "if you see a guy who matches his description, take down his license plate and call us."

After the show that evening, we took a quick drive around downtown and didn't find anyone matching his description. But, since we're hilarious, we hatched a plan to thicken the plot. So we wrote this note:

(we signed it "D" to make it seem more mysterious)

Before departing Lamoni, we stopped by the Kum & Go and placed the note in the ice freezer, where (hopefully) somebody would find it and deliver it to the manager. We put this on the front to be sure:

UPDATE: They caught him! At least, the disinterested Kum & Go clerk I spoke with on the phone thought they did. Lamoni is a small college town, so a couple snitches were easily able to point him out. I was curious as to what kind of punishment was handed out to hot dog thieves these days. "I don't know," she said. "He's probably banned from the store."

Unfortunately, she didn't mention anything about our mysterious note or how hilarious it was.
